We primarily use local storage (browser storage on your device), not cookies, for our own features. Our core functionality (including financial calculations and preferences) operates without first-party cookies.

We use local storage to remember your preferences, such as:

• Dark/light mode
• Nerd mode on/off
• Calculator inputs (age, net worth, contribution, return rate, etc.) so your last session is restored when you return

This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.

When you opt into analytics (via our consent banner), we store a pseudonymous identifier in local storage under the key fwr_session_id. This value is stored locally on your device and persists until you clear it. It acts as a device/browser identifier for our first-party analytics only; we do not tie it to your real identity. We also generate a pageview identifier per page load to aggregate events. Analytics is off by default; we only use this storage after you opt in.

We use Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID: G-0NTX4PZ033) with Google Consent Mode v2. The GA4 script loads for all visitors, but what data is collected depends on your consent choice:

• If you accept analytics: GA4 sets the following first-party cookies — _ga (distinguishes unique users, expires 2 years) and _ga_0NTX4PZ033 (maintains session state, expires 2 years).
• If you decline analytics: No cookies are set. GA4 sends only anonymous, cookieless pings with no user identifier. These minimal signals help Google model aggregate traffic but contain no personally identifiable information.

GA4 cookies are governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can remove them at any time by clearing cookies for this site in your browser, or by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

If we use third-party advertising partners (e.g., Google AdSense), they may set their own cookies or device identifiers for ad delivery and measurement. We do not control those partners' practices.

You can manage personalized ads via Google Ad Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Our hosting or security providers (such as Cloudflare) may set short-lived cookies for security, traffic management, fraud prevention, or bot detection purposes. These cookies are not used for advertising and are not used to track your financial inputs.

We do not control how these providers manage such cookies; they operate under their own privacy policies.

Our controls: Use the consent banner (or cookie/consent settings) to turn analytics on or off. Analytics is off by default. Revoking analytics consent stops us from sending new analytics events; clear local storage to reset the pseudonymous identifier.

Browser controls: You can clear local storage and cookies for this site in your browser settings (e.g., clear site data, clear browsing data). Blocking all cookies may affect third-party ad functionality; it does not break our calculator or preferences (we use local storage).
